[optacon-l] Re: Hi, Optaconers

On a job that I had, I shared an office. The boss asked me after a few days,
if I could get up and go out in the hall to use the Optacon, since the two
others in the office found it to be loud. Now all of us were transcribing
with earphones on, so, well, that was what they thought. . I had to use it
for medical and pharmaceutical dictionaries, as well as, in some cases,
sheets with patient names on them. I was so completely astounded that I
simply said, "no." I didn't go into a long tirade or explanation, I just
said, "no." Since the other people had been there for quite some time, she
moved me into the office next door, and no one else in there ever complained
that I heard about. We worked on production. Had I agreed to go out into the
hall, I'd have had to go to the lunch room or somewhere to get a flat
surface, since I could hardly foist my Optacon up against the wall and a
book or list... I think you get the picture.

Smile, God loves you,

Carolyn
