The OTA broadcasters do provide a valuable service in many places

I know the best information I have been able to get has come from
WAFB and WBRZ, even if it is over the internet to get it hear in
Gainesville.
So, I hear you saying that the local broadcasters provide a necessary community
service, and that the OTA signal is sometimes the only signal available. And
you also made the case for the two local broadcasters to be present on,
presumably, all of the media used for TV.
Okay, so perhaps someone should explain to Craig why the publically-owned OTA
TV spectrum exists and, secondarily, why the local broadcasters are on the
local cable systems. Craig tells us that spectrum is "too valuable," although
without specifying valuable to whom.
On a separate discussion, we might wonder just how much of this one-way
broadcast OTA TV spectrum should be retained long term, given that Internet
access is becoming more and ubiquitous. How much is needed for emergency
situations?
