Yesterday you asked why the networks would use their news divisions to produce cheap prime-time programming?

Now you suggest that it is wasteful for local stations to duplicate weather information that they are using for their news programming on a sub-channel. So the truth comes out that may of your extra channels are largely duplicative or mostly worthless.

Now look at the problem the way that Mark Aitken and the Sinclair GMs must look at it. Currently they cannot sell all of the commercial inventory on their main channel - just look (and listen) to the number of PSAs that are filling up radio and TV channels since the ad market has dried up.

So Sinclair could go out and buy syndicated programming to populate a sub-channel, and then try to sell even more ads to pay for that programming. How does this help them?

Craig
