Not exactly. What NBC and the MVPDs want people to think is that a monthly MVPD subscription not only delivers popular content to your TV, but it ALSO allows these new entertainment devices to access this content via the Internet. What was once a localized service to your home, now lets you access this content when you are away from home on your mobile device. The reality is that NBC is one of several major congloms who control 90% of the content delivered by the MVPDs. The oligopoly is primarily concerned with keeping your eyeballs inside this garden, and maximizing the return on major investments like the Olympics. > So, as desperately as they are to make their brand identified with the > Internet, they also seem to defeat their purpose. They do not want to be identified with, or a subset of the Internet. They are the Masters of Media, and the Internet just another media to control.
