hundred yards out, but it disappeared when I was getting my camera ready
(assumed spooked by a boat and flew off), and I was unable to get a photo

and back, but too far out to see a lot of detail. Reported by others today

acknowledging the possibility that it is a hybrid following previous

Observed the hummer a couple times, but it mostly stayed hidden in a leafy
shrub, once perched conspicuously on the mostly leafless linden. Very vocal
in calls (made recording) that did sound a lot like junco tiks, but in a
more incessant, staccato fashion like hummingbird calls generally, and
unlike the patterned bursts of juncos (which were also present and making
their calls for easy comparison).
Smaller than Anna's, which it called at and chased very aggressively.
Purple gorget seen well in good light, extended like a mustache down
throat. Didn't get to study wingtips or other plummage details closely but
good photos in other checklists.
Never heard it sing so no Anna's-like song heard."

Grosbeak. I did not see a facial pattern like a White winged would have and
the back and wing pattern look better for Pine Grosbeak. Coincidentally my
friend Jim Eager got a text from Alex Lamoreaux saying it was a male Pine

and foraging at edges of parking lot. Bunting with white face, some diffuse
rufous highlights, mostly dark and rufous back and wings with some white in
outer flight feathers and coverts. Beautiful to see as always. The flock
seems to have dwindled. Migrating? Dying?
We also saw Nick and Maureen up here today, who said they also just had one
SNBU. Good to see them! Hope they got something good!"
