- Comments: "Excellent, diagnostic scope views. The bird - a typical
silvery-looking juvenile - had spangled upperparts and white underparts.
The curve of the wing area (or "shoulder") was black. It also had a short,
diffuse, brownish chest band that came to a point on the chest. It was very
similar in size to a Baird's Sandpiper with which it flew, but was
obviously chunkier in structure. The bird was very vocal, and its calls
sounded like "wick, wick" to me. Poor, long-distance photo to be attached."

- Comments: "First seen around 9:07. While scoping for the Clark's Grebes a
small, white tern flew through my scope view. In the roughly 30 second view
I had of this bird I noticed a black mask that encompassed the eye and then
continued back to the nape, which would make it a first winter bird. I also
noted very dark trailing edges of the primaries. In comparison, a first
winter Forster's Tern would show duller primary edging and only an isolated
black mask around the eye. Thinking I could get a picture I rushed to the
boat ramp. On my way up I saw the bird swoop close to the shore. When I got
out to the boat ramp only seconds later the bird had disappeared. It was
not refound in the next 2 ish hours I was there."

- Comments: "Small warbler sized bird with clean tan/buffy/almost orangey
face. Distinct thin black stripe through eye and toward nape of neck along
with black stripes on top of head as well. Flushed it out of small spring
of water with tall veg around the water. Very light coloration with black
markings on face, otherwise very clean coloration overall. Face/head
coloration was a bit brighter than the body, but otherwise fairly uniform
color for rest of body. Definitely not a juvenile white crowned sparrow,
the bill was too long and thin rather than a short stubby sparrow bill. And
the face and body were too uniform and clean. Plus the stripes were too
black and thin to be a white crowned sparrow. Got a solid look at the bird
before it flew away. Confirmed sighting description with multiple other
birders, including ebird reviewers."
