A few years ago, I had a surprise BLACK PHOEBE fly across Kings Blvd in
Corvallis near our apartment, a couple of blocks from Fred Meyer. I heard
it calling first, and it was so out of place that it took me a moment to
realize what I had heard - then I saw the bird fly.
That same neighborhood also yielded a very unexpected WRENTIT that was
singing outside our bedroom window, as well as a couple of snipe on our
lawn in the winter. You never know what you're gonna find!
