Linda....I think I found my problem. When I linked these documents to 
the Access db I used the db as the source. Since I didn't explicitly 
link to the query the documents were linked to the table. I just tried a 
small experiment where I created a document and linked to the query 
before inserting any fields and it worked just fine. Your notes got me 
thinking. Thanks for the help.
