[mso] Re: yet another Mail Merge problem

I found a fix for this by creating a Word template to handle the merge
process and always opening the template, rather than a new doc from the
template. For some reason it seems this gets over the OLE/DDE hiccup.

Might be worth a try?

I have the same problem with Word documents that we changed the data
source on. Saving the file doesn't seem to take. I still must select my
data source every time I want to do a particular merge. My original data
source was an Excel spreadsheet. We changed to Access and have one table
with a letter code field that corresponds with a particular Word document.
We want to link to that table and that particular letter code. Some
documents work and some don't. I don't know yet what they have in common.
I can link to the data source. choose the criteria to equal the desired
letter code and save the document. Next time, gotta do it all over again.

Yup....that's the way I thought it was supposed to work, but I=20
apparently lose the link to the query when I close the file. When I=20
re-open the file the calculated fields from the query are zeroed and I=20
have to relink the query. I've tried this on a number of the files and I

get the same results.
