You are right of course, but there is another possible cause as to why this
person is getting that error. (IF it hadn't happened to me, I would not
have known it.)
I was working on my book, a HUGE book, that I have broken into four volumes
and about 400/volume. Proofreading it, I found an error:
Therefore, to Alleghenies West go, the families waited to hear word of

I wanted to say:
In order to go West of the Alleghenies, the families waited to hear word of
Lewis and Clark.
Word would NOT allow me to change it. It said disk full, save to another
disk. (Disk full? I have a nearly 600G hard drive Raid system. No way.) But
In tried anyway. I tried to save it to tape, tried to save to another
computer no the network, no go. Frustrated, I checked the attributes to
make sure they were what I wanted. They were.
Then I checked to make sure I had all the SR patches, checked to make sure
I did not have a virus, checked the size against my backup, etc. Everything
I knew to check, anyway. The file wasn't too big, still hovering about 11G.
(There are thousands of photos, hundreds of jpgs, etc. in the book. I did
NOT want to lose it.)
Next, I paged my technician. He came the next day, and undid my changes. He
put the first sentence back in. It saved. Then he saved it on a portable
hard drive he brought and connected to USB. Next, he deleted all copies of
this from my computer and backup tapes. Then he reopened it, and saved it
where I wanted it.
He said the problem was caused by having a corrupted copy of that document,
and that was how Word tells the user "there is a problem with this
document. Take careful measures to save." I found it a little incredulous
it worked that way, but I can't complain. The copy is clean now. Surely
worth a lunch to me.
