Well....I'm gonna chime in here and say I agree with both Dian and Greg. LOL (call me wishy washy) I'm more prone to suggest the upgrade from Win98 to WinXP than I am the upgrade from Office 2000 to Office XP tho. Windows XP has definitely proven itself to be way more stable for me than any other version of Windows (well, I loved Win 2k also, but it didn't let me play a lot of my games that Win XP does let me play) But...since this is an Office group, I will concentrate on Office XP. I really like it and since the service patches, it's performing pretty flawlessly here, but I'm fortunate in that I get Office for free from the college where I teach. If I had to pay for Office XP, I don't think I would bother. Office 97 is CERTAINLY something you should upgrade if you can, but, in my opinion, if you have Office 2000, the upgrade to Office XP just isn't worth the money, especially since Office 11 will be released before you know it. And...of course...there is always the activation issue....remember that if you buy Office XP, you can only install it on one desk top and one laptop....yeah yeah, I know that technically this has always been the case, but now it's a lot more than "technical" LOL Linda Publisher ~ ABC ~ All 'Bout Computers Owner ~ Linda's Computer Stop http://personal-computer-tutor.com FREE MS Office eBook Tutorial http://personal-computer-tutor.com/library.htm -----Original Message----- From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jamshed Mehta Sent: Wednesday, January 15, 2003 11:01 AM To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [mso] Re: Is it worth changing over to?XP ? I have been using WIN98 S.E. & OFFICE2000 and am happy with the situation. Now that the XP products are well entrenched, I am wondering whether I should migrate to them. What is the experience and advice of you fellow list members on XP? Is it really beneficial to spend money and go thru the hassles of a new installation? Cheers, Jamshed F.
