I agree Anne...I ain't no number geek either...and that is WHY I love Excel....without Excel, I wouldn't have a CLUE how to determine interest rates, etc....I have no idea how this math works...but, when I was going to buy my new car, the only thing I knew was how much I could afford to pay for monthly payments....I had no idea how to turn the price of the car and the annual interest into a number that would tell me what my monthly payment would be....In Excel, it's so simple...I just use one of Excel's financial functions and just plug in the numbers the car dealer gave me and BINGO, I could then decide which deal being offered to me met my monthly payment needs and how many years I needed to take the loan for. Without Excel, I would just be playing guessing games....in my opinion, Excel is not just for numbers crunchers...it's for those of us who have NO IDEA how these formulas work...all we want is a damn answer LOL Linda F. I started using Excel when I worked at a school running the admissions department. We had a UNIX database that also operated the accounting system, but my part of it handled 15,000+ family entries, with multiple children, multiple years of (potential) entry to the school, multiple feeder schools, multiple dates of visit to the school, etc etc etc. I used Query to import the data into Excel and then run mail merges or whatever. The geek who tried to show me Access would do it better failed to realise that his method depended on knowing how to operate Access! I've stuck with Excel ever since!!
