Andy -
I'm angry with and very critical of this administration in Washington. When
I criticize Bush -- the dishonesty, his incompetence, his effort at
intimidating those who disagree with him, his expansion of executive
authority, his curbing of civil liberties, etc, etc -- I'm not being
anti-American. I'm being a patriot. But if bin Laden were on this
listserv -- someone who's committed to the destruction of America --
articulating my views would be foolish. Why should I give bin Laden more to
use against us?
That's how I feel about Omar. He looks at Israel the way bin Laden looks at
America: committed to its destruction. Should I share my disappointment with
Israel, it would give him more to use against us. Why would I do that?
To you Israel's future may be academic. To me it's not.

Perhaps you can share articles that criticize Israel's attacks on Lebanon.
Surely you can find some. Not only do you never ever criticize Israel, you
even refuse to see what they're doing to the Palestinians, as if this
conflict sprang out of some sort of vacuum. You even call those who oppose
the war anti-semitic. How do you square those ideas?

I do share Articles that I find stimulating...and get in trouble because it's often thought they represent my thinking. Since there are obvious anti-semites on board this listserv, I'm not sharing anything critical of Israel. I know Israel isn't perfect. Just as I know I'm not perfect. IwhichI'm ready and willing to criticize its government, its policies, how it interacts with Palestinians -- just as I'm ready and willing to criticize the Bush administration.
