Art: Does this mean that the Leica R lens will not hold their own on a Canon digital body. I need to know more about the 'serious thought' part????

Charles & All,
Here's a fly in the ointment.
The new generation of digitally optimized lenses that all of the manufacturers are "Suggesting " that we use and also say that are for use on Digital bodies only are a farce!
I mean that they are fine for digital sensors, since the sensor is in the center of the lens, but what we can infer from this, and the fact that Canon's digital lenses have a non-mountable lockout feature for film bodies, is that edge definition is JUNK!!
This is like using a vivitar, et al, non-series one lens from earlier times. Namely garbage.
This is food for serious thought guy's.
We're getting charged a premium price for single-purpose lenses so now we can all buy, (and carry around), two sets of lenses so that we can use both digital and film bodies.
Talk about GREAT MARKETING STRATEDGY, the Harvard MBA's have struck again!!
Just a thought
