Hi All,
I ventured to Clapp Park yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to find two
Yellow-crowned Night Herons juveniles next to the nest over the nature trail.
I wasn’t sure this nest would be successful being so close to where people are
walking. The adults were observed foraging in the lakes, which are in the
process of drying up, some rain sure would help. I also saw a Solitary
Sandpiper on the south side lake.
At McAlister Park, in addition to the usual suspects, there was one Least
Sandpiper and several young Black-necked Stilts. Most of the avocets have left.
