Perhaps easier than having it pickup data from the Vspeed gauge would be a separate gauge, say a small indicator on which a speed bug could be set. The Vr, the more impacting value, could be read from the Vspeed gauge, by the user, and the new gauge speed bug set. When it reached that speed a light would come on.

The trick is how to get it to send signals when the aircraft has reached the Vspeed currently calculated V1 and Vref.
