No. At the moment I am only working on FS9 and will be installing scenery
and aircraft on this version. I'll probably use this if going online only
because of familiarity with this version and the aircraft. It's a reduction
in all the learning curves I'm going to face.

Have you configured simconnect?  IVaP for FSX requires it.

Further checking shows that the VC-RED.msi file set is nothing to do with FS
- it's the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package. How or why
I've got this is still a mystery..

Now to find out why the IVAP install failed...

I have the SDK installed, I use the ACE tool for producing digital
gauges, I think I used the default location inside Microsoft Games.
