Hi Chip,
Until WP10 this wordprocessor was my main wordprocessor and I have edited
several books (mine and for other people) for publishing. :-))
I'm quite familiar with it but I don't know how the last one looks like.
And, of course, how supported is it from the JFW perspective.
Thanks very much for the news server and I'll subscribe there as soon as
possilbe.

Well, the name of the free corel news server is cnews.corel.com and all
you need to do is to create a new account for it on your news reader,
and it will automatically download a list of the news groups available
there. There's one specific to each version of WordPerfect, so you can
go to the WP 12 news group and ask about differences between it and
earlier versions. They will probably be able to point you to a page on
the Corel web site which lists all the differences. You may want to
scan down through the subject list (organizing your messages by thread
or conversation is highly recommended in news group reading) as you're
not likely to be the first person to ask this question.

As for how jfw 6 supports it, no one really knows yet (at least until
someone has had a chance to try it out). Their support for previous
versions of WordPerfect has never been as good as their support for MS
Word, but then, you could use reveal codes to figure out a lot of what
was going on for yourself even without jfw support.

If you're not an expert WP user, and you don't know what I mean by
reveal codes, then I'd suggest that you really consider investing your
time and money in a copy of Word. It's a word processor as good as Word
Perfect, and you'll certainly be much more likely to have to exchange
documents with others who have Word. Since they work quite differently,
it's a lot to ask of someone that they have and learn to use both.

Hth,

Chip
