Whoever told you not to run Jaws from the system tray was crazy. As I saidyesterday, it keeps the Jaws interface from getting in the way all the time.

To change it, insert J, options then enter on basics. Tab to checkbox for"run Jaws from system tray." Tab to OK and hit it.

Yes, I think that is a fair statement--i.e. that it happens to me afternot

having re-booted for a long time.

Regarding running Jaws from the system tray, can you tell me why I might
have been told not to do this, and how do I get Jaws to actually run from
the system tray?

As you suggest, I will re-check my settings, and even do a re-install if
necessary.

As I said too, the problem doesn't happen every time I close out of
something--just maybe about 40 to 50% of the time.

That would be a very unusual problem. I think you need to check all your
display settings to make sure you're operating in the correct resolution,
theme, and appearance.

The shutdown keystroke for applications (if you don't use file/exit) is
Alt+f4.

As someone else suggested, I agree that a re-install of JAWS may be needed
here. Again I've never heard of a situation where JAWS is unloaded when

another application is unloaded, and I've been using a Dell Latitude 610for

two years before upgrading.

I have tried these steps, but to no avail.

This is why I think Jaws somehow dies when I close out of another ap.

I don't think it's just a focus issue; otherwise, I think I could getJaws

back as others have suggested.

Assuming Jaws is still alive, alt tab and alt tab back again. Or hold down
the windows key and pres M as in Minerva.

If on the web, you might F5 to refresh the page or insert escape torefresh

the screen.

As suggested, creating a hot  key for Jaws should work if it is getting
kilt. Having a hot key for two versions would come in handy.

Hi, all.

I have a nagging problem with Jaws 11, that I could use some help with.

On my Dell Lattitude 610 laptop computer, with Windows XP, I often

completely loose Jaws when exiting out of applications like MicrosoftWord

and Outlook Express.

I don't understand why this happens, nor do I know how to get Jaws back
once
it's lost, which causes me to have to do a hard shut-down of the computer
when the problem occurs.

Any helpful suggestions here would be appreciated.
