  Second thought.  How are you shutting down your programs?  Are you just 
repeatedly using alt F4 or do you quit from inside the file menu of the 
program.  My guess is that you have inadvertantly shut down JAWS with an alt F4 
although JAWS should ask you if you really want to shut down JAWS.
