I looked through everything in the device manager to the best of my ability and couldn't see anything that said anything about USB sound card. There are 19 items and I didn't find anything. I am using a Dell Dimension. Perhaps someone more familiar with it knows where to look.

Another thing to try is the "do not map through this device" option. Here is a message that describes the steps. From: "Brent Harding" <bharding@xxxxxxxxxx> To: "PC Audio Discussion List" <pc-audio@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: USB soundcard Date: March 4, 2008 7:02 PM There should be an option in device manager for the device. On my headsetit's called do not map through this device, and checking that makes it neverbecome default unless you tell it to. It's a little buried in there under USB audio device, properties, and USB audio device again for some reason. Bobps. Don't forget to try modifying the jaws.ini file method. here is info on doing that.http://www.freedomscientific.com/fs_support/BulletinView.cfm?QC=432Ignore the part about replacing the drivers. That is for version 4 of Jaws.----- Original Message ----- From: "Ryan MacIsaac" <jrmacisaac@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, April 01, 2008 8:23 AM Subject: RE: Magic Jack And JawsHi, I don't have Magic Jack so I can't comment exactly on the problem you are having. However, the problem might be that when Magic Jack is plugged in to yoursystem, it takes over as the default sound device on your system. To verify this and change it, go to the control panel and check the sounds and audiodevices dialog. Go to the audio tab and see what device is shown as thedefault. If it shows as the Magic Jack device, change it back to the soundcard in your system and see if this corrects the problems you are having. I hope this helps, Ryan -----Original Message-----From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On BehalfOf Katherine Schulz Sent: Tuesday, April 01, 2008 10:22 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Magic Jack And JawsThat is really strange. How, then, do you get calls if the phone is beingused for Jaws? Do you think that ear phones plugged in to the computer would work? Whatyou have to do is pick up your telephone and listen to jaws through the phone it self.Note: as long as you have the magic jack plugged in to the U.S.B. port; Jawswill only work by listening to it through the telephone.. When I firstplugged it in, Jaws started to speak and then stopped.Does anyone know if using this sort of phone program would have an effect onJaws? When I unplugged the Magic Jack from the USB prot, Jaws came back.I'm sort of afraid to plug the phone converter box back in. Any help withthis would be appreciated.
