Hello Friends,
Well, for a few weeks now, every day when I first turn my computer on, I
receive a message from AVG stating that I must switch to version 8.5 by April
12, as my current version will no longer receive the latest definitions by that
date.

I am not sure what to do.
It does not mention any charge!

If I have to pay $35, I might as well add 14 and make it $49 and go with off
the shelf Norton.

I used it for 10 years with JAWS, granted I had to route JAWS to PC to read
most of the dialog boxes, but that was so rare, Norton took care of itself, and
my computer also, it caught a few viruses, and in 10 years, I never had an
issue with infections or such.

I think I did have some one help me with the original Install, but after that,
renewing the annual charge for renewal of the definitions downloads was not a
problem with JAWS.

With Best Regards,
Alan

  Hello Alice,

Where did you get 8.5 free? When I clicked on the update it said you had to
pay $35.

Has anyone downloaded the new AVG free 8.5?
I did, and now, it seems that AVG is running scans for hours every day.
I guess this should make me feel all safe and protected from viruses and other
goodies, but while this is going on, JAWS stutters and hitches up and locks up,
and it's really hard to get anything done.
Anyone else noticing this? Are there any settings I can change to
encourage JAWS to keep performing even when these scans are running in the
background?
    Thanks,
    Alice
