Hi jackie, Greg, Jim, and list, first:I just baught a new PC with windows vista and IE7. I'm running jaws 9 and so far, *knocks on wood* everything is working just fine, granted I've had to make a few minor adjustments here and there, and I'm still doing that as I go, but I can't tell much difference from my old xp, IE6, and jaws 7/8, except for the speed, ooo, my head is spinning.
2nd:I unchecked typing interupt in the config manager for windows live messenger but the enter key still interupts, so it sounds like a default setting to me.
and finally: *applause*I can't remember where I got it from I'm sure google will bring it up for you, but I've gotten a great deal of help from the "Jaws basics of scripting". I'm mostly a dabbler at writing jaws scripts, this file was a huge plus!

Hello,Thanks for the info. The reason I was asking about the typing interrupt is because I have a program called JMC the java mud client. This program is used to play mud's, multi user dungeons, over the internet. When you download this program you can have to also download a bunch of scripts to make it work with JAWS. Two of the scripts are called Typing interrupt and reading interrupt. When both of these scripts are turned off it acts just like it would if you turned the typing interrupt off through the configuration manager. If you only turn the typing interrupt off, as long as you are typing letters or punctuation it wont interrupt what's coming across the screen, but as soon as you press enter it will interrupt speech. I have other programs I would like this type of funcionality on. That is why I asked if it was application specific or if you could somehow change the default way JAWS handled the typing interrupt. Thanks, Greg W.----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie McBride" <abletec@xxxxxxxxx>To: <jawsscripts@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, April 18, 2008 8:49 PM Subject: [jawsscripts] Re: Introduction and a questionGreg, 1st, welcome to the list. 2nd, http://grabbag.alacorncomputer.com/ has a lot of stuff on a variety of topics, including Jaws scripting. 1 of the folks on this list , Inthane Elf, is gracious enough to host this site that benefits all of us. As regards your typing interrupt question, this is not really something that scripting can assist with. It's something that's pretty well hard-coded into jaws, which is somewhat of a rarity but there it is. How can I change this so when the typing interruptis turned off the enter key will interrupt speech?3. 3. Would something like this have to be application specific orcould you create a script to modify the default typing interrupt?
