Reading his emails reminded me of a what happens when a record gets 
stuck in a groove (or a rut). I'm not sure that I agree with him, but 
an English teacher of mine once claimed that the only difference 
between a rut and a grave is a matter of depth. Clearly we are 
off-topic but John Cartmell could certainly do with a new perspective 
on the RISC-OS world: I had no idea what I was subscribing to until I 
read the latest issue (whose arrival almost made me fall over 
backwards).
