blacklisted dynamic ips - blacklisted where ? - in mail servers ? So
unless you are sending mail using the very same concept of 'dynamic
ip' , why would you suffer ? ..... just curious :)
Firstly, look up what a DNSBL is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNSBL
A means by which an Internet site may publish a list of IP addresses
that some people may want to avoid and in a format which can be
easily queried by computer programs on the Internet. The technology
is built on top of the Internet DNS or Domain Name System. DNSBLs are
chiefly used to publish lists of addresses linked to spamming. Most
mail transport agent (mail server) software can be configured to
reject or flag messages which have been sent from a site listed on
one or more such lists.
Now, here is a list of DNSBLS:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_DNS_blacklists
here is another:
http://www.sdsc.edu/~jeff/spam/cbc.html
Notice how many of these mention dialups? And how those lists are
rolled up into the big ones that a lot of mail server admins use?
Spamassassin does a lookup (by default, I think, unless turned off)
to at least some of the RBL hosts.
I, for one, do use DNSBLs, and most people I know do as
well.
