Hi Chase, Data on the hard drive will not be affected by a reboot, a reset, or even a reflash in most cases. Anything you have stored in flash memory will survive a reboot or reset, but will be wiped out during a reflash. Thanks >>> chasec@xxxxxxxxxx 12/16/07 10:50AM >>> Rebooting is accomplished by holding pound, star, and program 1, and just restarts the unit. Resetting is done by holding the reset button by the battery for five seconds, and just erases everything you have on the hard drive, such as music, books, podcasts, newspapers, documents, and other things. Reflashing is accomplished by holding star for a few seconds and then tapping the reset button for 5 seconds, and then letting go but keep the star key held down until the unit vibrates on the Braille Plus, or holding the pound key for a couple of seconds and then holding down the reset button for five seconds and letting go, but kept pound held down until the unit vibrates on the Icon. Reflashing erases' all Linux console applications, any other games you might have, and restores the internal flash disk to the way it was when you received your unit. Will someone please explain the differences between flashing, rebooting, reflashing and resetting? When and why would you need or want to do each of these? Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Kevin Jones Sent: Friday, December 14, 2007 2:10 PM To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: Frustrating problems with RSS reader I have also had these rss reading problems on my icon, also I find that the icon will currently fail to recognize my thinkoutside keyboard. My laptop can see the thinkoutside on my new freedom universal keyboards, so reading Michael's problem I'm thinking reflashing also.
