So, what can't we do with an external drive given that I can
purchase a 250 gigabyte Western Digital Passport drive small enough
to hold im my hand for $99, a far sight cheaper than $250 for a 40
gigabyte drive.

The Icon has been out now for a few years, and it took them that
amount of time to get the hard disk increase in the unite. I think
the reasoning behind it was to wait for the price to come down on
the drives to keep it at the same asking price. Odds are thats what
will continue to happen, and often does, in this type of industry
and any type of PDA or computer market (in my experience at least).

It's not wrong or right. They're just not raising the price at
this time
for this specific hard drive increase. I can't speak to the
future--whether
there will be more increases in size, whether that will effect

Yes, new Icons currently have 40 GB hard drives. And yes, you

upgrade
your unit. If you choose to do this, you'll send your unit
in, they

place a 40 GB drive in your unit, and will send you your 30 GB
drive
back
in a USB enclosure which can then be used as an external
drive, and can
be
powered with Icon.
Please note: right now, this only applies to Icons. As far as
