Thanks all for the feedback. I opted for the new back in the end. The current back I use with the SWC/M does not have a darkslide holder and, holding the camera as suggested in the Hasselblad manual which seems the most logical way to hold it, my thumb end up resting on the upper right hand side of the film magazine looking from the rear. Looking at photos of the new A12s it doesnt look as though the darkslide hølder adds that much to the rear....
