With the dropdown and the time-range widgets you generate only a query formula that will be sent to the Find... panel (Tracker?) which does the querying as usual. If there were no preview of the query (which basically does the query in the background without a set time-range and draws a line for every unique When-attribute hit), there'd be zero querying in the Mail app. I'd find this preview extremly useful, though to limit the number of results. But, I'd settle for a simple time-range slider going from "last hour" over "today", "yesterday", "last 3,4,5,6,7 days", "last 2,3,4 weeks", "last 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9... months" to "all". Just to fill in the formular, mind you. If I were to query "Same Sender" from one of your mails, I'd get 10.000 results. Limiting to "last 4 days" would be a quick widget drag and a click. :) It's all about quickly generating a needed formula to be used with Find...
