Yes I think that has more to do with the pack part of the relationship and
the bonding.  If they treat us differently, it is because we react
differently, i.e. a dog may seek eye contact with someone else but comes to
realise it can't get it from us so has to make physical contact.  That is
not knowing we are blind, it is just reacting to how we react.  They can't
consciously know why we act differently to others.

They probably do know but wouldnt reason it out. Mine touches my hand with
her nose to get my attention, but doesnt do it to the rest of the family. My
hubby once said when he took my Border Collie for a walk, and that wasnt
often she never stayed that close to him, but she would never go far from
me, I think its the same with Wren too. But that might be more to do with
the fact that I'm her handler, her pack leader.

I do think my dog knows that there is something different about me.  I am
not sure he thinks, hay, she can't see, but he is more careful with me
than
he is with my grandson or another sighted person.
