It also won't give you anything beyond left or right. What I mean by that is it won't tell you cardinal directions such a North, South, East, and West. You also have to switch from pedestrian mode to free mode to get the distance to a POI. I have given up on the Trekker and learned that Visuaide decided against cardinal directions because they felt it would be comfusing to blind users. Needless to say I am very disappointed in the Trekker and still hope Mike May will port his GPS system over to the Pacmate in the future. Gene and Princess PDAs I have owned: Casio Digital Diary SF4000, Sharp organizer, Sharp Wizard EL530, Type N' Speak, Palm 3C, Viewsonic V35, Dell Axim X5, and Pariot. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gerry Leary" <lgerry3@xxxxxxxxx> To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, May 30, 2004 2:30 PM Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: Maps: > Hello, > > I wish that the trekker would tell us both the mileage and altitude. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Mary Ellen Earls" <meearls@xxxxxxx> > To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Sunday, May 30, 2004 12:20 PM > Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: Maps: > > > > Well, it really depends on what is going on weatherwise and satellite > wise. > > Last week, one day, for example no it was the week before, I was in an > area > > which I walk every day and I had no signal for about 600 feet. > > Now, the next day and every day since, when I have traveled in that same > > area I have had no problems with the signal at all. > > I have never used the trekker in a car and plan to do so sometime next > week > > just to see how it operates. > > Now there is a place where I have to go in an enclosure to get to the > street > > corner.
