So Tim,
Are you suggesting we *do* have MIDI in GMPI, but GMPI-only hosts do what
Fruityloops does, convert GMPI->MIDI via a wrapper for only those old
plugins that need it?.
Despite that being the exact oposit of what I wanted, it is quite clean. The
pure-GMPI host need not worry about MIDI at all (it's the wrapper's job).
