Christ's spirit returned to God who gave it. His spirit was therefore in a memorial tomb. Christ's body was laid in a physical tomb, wrapped in some cloth, and was still there when the stone was rolled shut. It was removed from there at some time between when the soldiers sealed the tomb and when the angel opened it. I do not consider that this distinction is relevant to our discussion of three days and three nights, however.
