Always good to hear you had a great day.

Cannot have enough Stones....

We had the Alice's Restaurant/protest song medley on. It's our Thanksgiving tradition. We had a quiet dinner with just us 3 and the dogs. Ellie was a bit apprehensive about that eating in the dining room thing early. She likes everything planned out and done the same all the time. It was bitter cold but has warmed up and rainy today.

Getting the shopping done online today. Lots of free shipping and black Friday deals. Combined with a credit card that gives cash back, it's a lot better than going out in the madness.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Josie so much, you are spoiled!

I dunno about everyone else, but I had a nice Thanksgiving. I hate to admit it, but I'd let my house get into quite a mess. So I spent T-day (and the day before) catching up on things I'd let go and cleaning. House ain't perfect, but it's presentable, with some new photos hung on the wall.

I also had a "Beggar's Banquet" of old Rolling Stones music. I found a new appreciation for their early stuff when I discovered (duh) that they didn't start out as a rock 'n roll band, but rather an R&B group. When I listened to some of their covers of Chuck Berry, Bo Diddly (Ellas McDaniel), Willie Dixon and even Robert Johnson (Love in Vain, which I'd previously though to be a very poor parody of a country song), I saw them and their music in a totally different light. It was an interesting experience; now I have a WinAmp playlist of almost 300 Stones' songs. I'll pare 'em down to a "favorites" list. I even played bass for a bit to some of their real early stuff before organ practice before bed last night.

Tony, Desiree and Josie came to visit for a little while. It was late; they'd come from my elder son's dinner and were all tuckered out (but they brought me a yummy care package) and we had a short but nice visit. Little Josie had her first birthday the day before (we'll celebrate on Saturday) and although she was tired out, she was a little angel. I didn't shoot any photos cuz everyone was pooped out and when I looked in Josie's eyes, I didn't wanna blast a flash into 'em. So we ended the visit (as we'd begun it) with hugs and well-wishes. One other thing. I'd found a painting that my mother had done when she was around 10 or 12 years old. It's a still life with a book and candle in a plain white frame that has to be 50 years old if not 70. I gave it to them to hang in Josie's room. It can't hurt to have a painting done by her great-grandmother around. Funny thing about Josie's name. They named her Josephine after my grandmother (J's great-great-grandmother) but didn't realize that my mother's first name was also Josephine, although she never used it. For some reason she chose to use her middle name, Mildred. Why she refused to be called Millie is beyond me, but that's the way it was. So it was a surprise when Tony and Desiree found out that their daughter was named for her great-great-grandmother AND her great-grandmother as well. And so ends today's genealogy dissertation.

All in all, it was a real nice day and I have a ton of stuff to be grateful for (like the fact that I'm not out fighting Black Friday crowds.)

I hope everyone else had as satisfying T-day as I did.

Happy Thanksgiving! I have much to be thankful for.

My plan is to do some tidying in the basement... reduce the Sanford & Son vibe it's got going...
