Hi Dave,

Believe me, the issue of archived files, and backward compatibility is
an issue which has very high priority, and has come under much
discussion internally.

In the short term, you will find that 10.5 now retails what in
MicroSpeak terms is called "Sticky Document Information". Hence you
will be able to open a 10.5 created file, and know what paper size was
used, what configuration of embosser produced the last copy, etc., etc..

As regards previous versions, I believe longer term an "Import filter"
will be designed which will look at the DBT document, and present the
user with a variety of queries where old codes perhaps need to be
replaced.

Longer term, I could speculate that XML will be the way to go. However,
right now, every ounce of effort is going into getting 10.5 put to bed,
before embarking on the next phase of development.

George.
