Hi Kaye
Like all the companies the person who supplies the sample owns the results -
not the person who paid for the test. Each company has different ways of
handing this ethical issue. In Ancestry's case anyone can share their results
with others - so you can have full access from the owner of the DNA with their
permission - you can also link their DNA test to your tree search the matches
etc etc.
Each kit will have a log in - there is a settings button on the top right -
here the owner can send an invite to others to view the results is part of the
settings options. So just get who ever has access to the login's set up when
they activated the kits to go to this settings button and invite you to share
the results as manager (or collaborator)
Do hope you have read the many help files on Ancestry's website for all this...

The contact us info is on this page and many others under the help tab. Both
phone and email.
The phone hours are on this page

This new genealogy tool has a steep learning curve for everyone, do watch the
DNA help videos at Ancestry Academy and on their YouTube site - takes time for
all the pennies to drop, but I am sure you will find it a very useful addition
to your genealogy research.

Kaye,
The results you download aren't useful.
They have to be analysed by computer and matched with other people's tests.
The only useful bit is the matches that are made by Ancestry until you learn
more and put the results on GedMatch - again you don't even open the zip file.
On Gedmatch you get more matches and more tools to work with. But it's not easy.

Can I warn people to be aware when ordering DNA tests for family history.
I ordered and paid $300 for DNA tests for my daughter and son-in-law.
The test kits went to them and they sent them in. But when the results
came back, they went to them although I had ordered them.
My daughter tried to send the results to me because she doesn’t do
family history. But I wasn’t able to open the file.
So what a waste of money. She has told me a little bit about what’s in
the results but she doesn’t do FH and doesn’t understand too much
about it. There are many pages and she is going to try and forward
them to me tomorrow.
I tried to email Ancestry to ask if I can access the results but there
is no contact email address on their website.
What else can I do?
Any help would be appreciated otherwise just be aware of what happened
here.
