I will answer this more fully.
For my grandmother who has never touched a computer, never will in the
future and doesn't understand any of it - I had to create an email
address for her and the Ancestry account that has to be created for her
is linked to that email address. I made a gmail address and set it up
so that any emails to it (will only be from ancestry) will be forwarded
onto me.
I then logged onto her Ancestry (shortened to Ancy, so I don't have to
type it in full each time) account and made me a Manager of her DNA kit.
I have already done her tree as part of mine, so when I am ready I will
export her part of my tree and attach it to her Ancy account and her DNA.
For my mum - she has an email address and is a basic computer user but
does not have any interest in Family Tree stuff (but was willing to do
the same so that it helps me in my research) - so I started her up with
an Ancy account and the emails will go to her usual email address. If
she gets too many emails (and they bother her), I might set up a gmail
account for her and get them directed to me. I then made myself a
Manager of her DNA. I have done her tree as part of mine and in due
course I will put her part of the tree against her DNA test and make
myself an EDITOR.
For my husband, I set him up with a new Ancy account and the emails will
go to his usual email address. I made myself manager of his DNA results.
Depending on his level of interest, he might take over all his stuff,
but I doubt it. I created a tree for him and I have Edit rights of the
tree and this gives me full rights to add, edit, use the Ancestry green
leaf hints etc. He doesn't need any subscription. I basically created
it today on my computer with my subscription and logon and he sat next
to me in the office at his computer and saw the changes on his tree.
My son is 13 and is under the legal age to have an Ancy account. When I
went to register his DNA sample and put in his date of birth - there is
no choice, he has to be registered to my account (Like the old system)
and I manage his account.
So your situation is not exactly the same, but I think it is all doable
by going into the DNA settings and assigning you a Manager and then
going into their trees via the Privacy and Sharing settings and
Inviting you to their tree and making you and EDITOR.

PS: if I got my daughter to do it - then I would have 4 living and
direct line females with a DNA sample. That would be cool.

Can I warn people to be aware when ordering DNA tests for family history.
I ordered and paid $300 for DNA tests for my daughter and son-in-law.
The test kits went to them and they sent them in. But when the results came back, they went to them although I had ordered them.
My daughter tried to send the results to me because she doesn’t do family history. But I wasn’t able to open the file.
So what a waste of money. She has told me a little bit about what’s in the results but she doesn’t do FH and doesn’t understand too much about it. There are many pages and she is going to try and forward them to me tomorrow.
I tried to email Ancestry to ask if I can access the results but there is no contact email address on their website.
What else can I do?
Any help would be appreciated otherwise just be aware of what happened here.
