Hello all, You may have heard of drastic funding cuts to TAFE providers in Victoria, aimed at treating them as on a par with private education providers. Not only is this likely to have drastic consequences to the provision of disability support services but it is likely to lead to the closure of many courses and the loss of teaching staff. One of the consequences of these cuts also looks like being the closure of the Auslan sign language courses at Kangan TAFE which have provided training from Certificate II to Diploma level in Australian sign language and also training to notetakers and support staff. For those interested, an online petition has been organised to be sent to the Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu protesting this potential closure and is looking for signatures: http://www.communityrun.org/petitions/save-the-kangan-tafe-australian-sign-language-course Trudy
