There are many ways to convert PDF to Word

This one has a free 14 day trial which might be enough for your needs

I suspect converting a PDF is going to be the most productive route.
you are at least dealing with two document formats fully supported by
the rest of the world. :^)

I converted to a pdf using pdfcreator then used the Nitro Pro 10, as mentioned above, to convert to word .docx and could read it OK in LibreOffice.

I have sent the documents and waiting on response - if they can read and edit.
