Ah, yes, I found this out years ago. My dictionaries are only in
!Words, in Boot.!Resources, so that all the apps can share them.

A problem there, I'm afraid! Something has happened to my OPro CD over
the years, and it's now unreadable. What I'll try is to restore an old
!MainDict from the Iyo backup well over a month ago, and see if that
makes a difference. However, I have my doubts as to whether the
problem is with the dictionaries, as they all work perfectly well with
OPro and Messenger Pro; it's only CrossStar that crashes.

Yes, I had already tried that, and the crash happens no matter which
dictionary is loaded.

So would I! If it's just me, please don't spend too much time on it,
as I can always run CrossStar on VRPC, where it behaves. The effort of
having to start Windows might even deter me from cheating with the
crossword :-)

I'm still in the middle of a busy period, so I may not be able to do
more testing till Thursday at the earliest. In the meanwhile, I've
tried the old dictionary from the Iyo backup, and the new CrossStar
crashes, but only with the Solve option, Anagram works fine. Is this a
pointer, perhaps?

One final thought: in connection with a problem with another app, I've
been advised to install UnplugTBox and run the other set of toolbox
modules; this has solved the problem with the other app, but could
this have upset CrossStar? The whole of this toolbox business is way
over my head, but it's perhaps worth mentioning that the VRPC also
runs UnplugTBox, and this doesn't upset CrossStar there.

Many thanks again,

With best wishes,

Peter.
