Too many clones/shotos vs Where the fuck is Akuma
Not enough grapplers, zoners, rushdown or character type of choice etc.

I suppose that can be partially subjective. I just checked a sf wiki and it
lists 67 SF character as previously playable. I think that’s
too many to include in any game, but I suppose that it my opinion, and thus
subjective. I don’t see adding characters non-stop as a good thing for a game.
Character select screens get bloated with various incarnations and the move
lists start getting lazy.
Once again, subjective, I suppose.
The decisions by the game builders to include certain mechanics that we dislike
– like bound or rage – that’s purely subjective. The
game maker’s decision to include only certain characters – that’s their choice
and our dislike for it is subjective. Mechanics not working is bugs. Those
being in there are game faults.

Mechanics not working as intended sounds more like bugs tho... people also
frequently decide for themselves how something is intended to work why they
like/dislike
it.
Stuff like meterbuilding in Mk9 is probably character balance problem imo and
not base game mechanics problem I reckon.
MK9 balance is of such a horrid nature that its actually hard to determine what
it is at fault with such enormous disparities between characters.
But thats not really what I am arguing.
Its that characters being absent from a game can most definitely be considered
the games fault.

Lol. Okay, I’ll grant that most fault that people find with mechanics is
subjective. I hated the tag function in TTT2. I disliked the way that I could
hit the
opponent (clean) and still get punished for it because of the tag function.
You seemed to feel the opposite. Similarly, complaining that the game is ‘less
deep’ than previous incarnations and that’s a bad thing can also be seen as
subjective.
It is, however, possible to find fault with game mechanics where it is not
subjective – any mechanic that isn’t working as intended. Or a mechanic that
forced
bad balancing in a game (MK9’s meter building). Calling those subjective is
pushing it.

There are close to 70 characters that have been playable in various
incarnations of street fighter. There will always be missing characters.
SF5 seems to have quite a few flaws, but the lack of a specific character isn’t
one of them.
