And they ran with two sets of numbers in VIA service...1800/1802 then
1898-1899, renumbered to make room for CP roadswitcher rebuild numbers.
I'll have coverage of these units in my upcoming VIA book, including several
photos at Calgary, Winnipeg, Montreal, Dorval, Alyth, including a days-old
photo of one in VIA paint in Montreal.
I was very lucky to ride behind them in the VIA era from Calgary-Winnipeg and
also east of Winnipeg around Lake Superior.

They are known to have made it as far west as Calgary, but only briefly. I
remember seeing photos of at least one there. Whether it worked the Canadian
or how it got there I do not know.

I have searched for photographic evidence they were ever on The
Canadian, but have yet to find any. They also never got Script paint.
