The Collaborative Family Lawyers Institute, which I founded in 1999, is
bringing Chip Rose in February to do a state wide training. Last year, we
brought Pauline in to do a training.
What is your interest in Collaborative Law: I think it is the best process for
resolving family law disputes. I prefer doing mediation and handling collab.
cases. I believe that alternate dispute resolutions better serve clients and
their children and better conserve assets. I am a member of the IACP and
attended the Galveston and Vancouver conferences. Our group, the Collaborative
Family Lawyers Institute in Miami, Florida, has 30 members. We are a closed
group and have handled approximately 50 cases to date. I guess it is safe to
say that I was instrumental in bringing Collaborative Law to our state. I first
learned about CL in 1999 when the ABA Family Section met in Miami Beach and
there was a breakout on Collab. Law. Pauline was on the panel as were Peggy
Thompson and Rodney Nurse. There are now 9 groups throughout the state.
