Any trainings in Collaborative Law:
Training Level 1 given by Chip Rose in October 2001, Hudson Valley, NY (I
was responsible for putting the
program together. 45 lawyers from Orange and Dutchess counties attended. This
was the first collaborative law training I am aware of in New York).
What is your interest in Collaborative Law:
Substantial. In 1996, I helped develop the Orange County Pilot Program, a
Court-adjunctive mediation program (the first of its kind in NY). After 4 years
of volunteer mediations, we obtained approval from OCA to charge the
participants for mediations under the program (another first). In February,
2000 I attended the ABA ADR Section meeting in San Francisco where I
participated in a workshop in Collaborative law given by Pauline Tessler. Soon
after my return, I organized the committee to bring Collaborative Law to New
York , which ultimately resulted in our recent training with Chip Rose. I am
now chair of the Orange County Collaborative Family Law committee which is
attempting to organize as a practicing group. I am also the moderator of
NYCollabor! ativeLaw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. We seek guidance and input from lawyers
who have organized and are practicing Collaborative Law to avoid re-inventing
the wheel. Ultimately, I would like to see the program expand to encompass many
areas of Civil law.
I am the President of the Orange County
Bar Association and a past President of the Orange County Legal Aid Society.
Although the vast majority of my work as a lawyer these past 23 years has
been litigation oriented and I have tried many different types of cases (jury
and non-jury), I have been very much involved in promoting ADR models for
many years.
Sincerely,
Richard Greenblatt
