Practice area - 90% family law with an emphasis on collaborative family
law
and mediation. I am a member of the executive of the Association of
Registered Collaborative Family Lawyers (Calgary). My career life before
the
practice of law was in nursing. I find that me experience in teaching,
facilitating small groups and counselling in nursing is a tremendous asset
in Collaborative Law. I have been practicing law for almost 10 years. In
1994 or so I trained as a lawyer mediator in family law. Since then I have
taken interest based mediation and negotiation training at the University
of
Calgary. My Collaborative Law training includes seminars with Chip Rose
and
Stu Webb. In Calgary we like to think that we have strict criterea for
anyone wanting to become a registered collaborative family lawyer.. From
my
perspective it is the way of the future. Families are far better served in
the CFL setting. I have about 5 or 6 active CFL files open at this time.
