Supposed to rain quite a bit on Saturday night then on into Sunday morning,
then showers in the afternoon. But Monday is supposed to be sunny. SO...here
is the option for hiking/walking on Monday.
Meet at 10:00
Directions: Tuttletown Recreation area at New Melones Reservoir. This is on
the Toulumne County side of the lake. On Hwy 49 from Sonora, turn left on
Reynolds Ferry Road. Enter park and take first left (might be signed for dump
station) and park at the day use area that will be on your right. Do not take
the road that goes to the boat ramp. If you get to that road, you went too far.
If the ground isn't too wet and muddy, we will hike the Black Bear Loop. From
that loop we can walk across the road and wander up through the Acorn
campground (which is closed for winter) and scope out possible spots for a
spring camping trip sometime in future.
If it is too wet and muddy, we can walk from the day use down the paved road
towards the other campgrounds. The gate will probably be closed so there won't
be any traffic. We can just wander around that area and maybe eat lunch in one
of the campgrounds.
Bring lunch you can take on the walk as we might find a place in one of the
campgrounds to eat. Dogs are welcome. Bring a leash for any time we might
spend on the road. Don't forget your senior pass so you can enter the area
without paying day use fee.
Let me know if you are coming. By return email (reply only to sender not the
entire distribution list) or text to 209/770-1952
