Try calling your local Chamber of Commerce and asking for the name and number of an old-fashioned appliance store. Tell them you don't want the big box discount stores. These service-oriented stores still exist, but you have to search for them.

Speaking of service, getting service in these big discount stores can also be a problem, even when I go with my wife who is sighted. I am looking for the Hamilton Beach talking Microwave. I know it can bebought online, but I would rather have a chance to examine it at a brick and mortar store. So far, we have had no luck finding it. I know that Wal-martand Best Buy sell it online, but I don't know what stores actually have it in stock. In Wal-mart, we were unable to get any assistance when we got to theappliance section. We did not see it. We didn't know if they were out, orif this is an item that can be ordered only online. No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
