This is not quite the definitive answer that it might appear to be. If you
have other voices installed on your computer, you can opt to transfer a text
file using one of those voices. To do so, open Bookport Transfer, press
ALT+O to open the options, TAB to Synthesized Speech Options, and make your
choices. Then, when you want to transfer a text file using the voice you
selected, select the text file and press ALT+E in the main Bookport Transfer
window. Note that this converts the text file to MP3 before transferring it
and that you will not have some of the advantages you would normally have
when listening to a text file on the BP such as increase and decrease rate,
etc.

The current speech is the only one that is available with the BP.
From what others on the list have said, all other synths require
an operating system to run them. Since the BP runs off custom
firmware, not an operating system, no other speech programs can
run.

Have a great day and a happy New Year,
Alex
