Regular batteries only last me a week at best. But I read... a lot. Lithiums last twice as long. Steve is certainly right about the rechargeable battery life.

Hello:

When I first purchased the bookport, I asked one of the tech support persons at APH if I could use rechargeable batteries. The person I spoke with recommended against it, because if memory serves and I understood him correctly, he said that if there were some discrepancy between the level of current at which those batteries charged and what the device could take it could be damaged.

I have never seen this happen on my Bookport, but you do get only a fraction of the battery life from rechargeables versus standard cells. With a set of normal batteries, I can use my Bookport for two to three months without needing replacements, whereas rechargeable lithium cells only lasted me about five days at a stretch.
