This same thing has come up on the PAC Mate list. Apparently, it's nothing
more than a matter of numbers--as Dave said, people with Ipods and cell
phones; or, for that matter, even boom boxes; tend to be ignored unless
they're actually bothering someone, but blind folks with technologies that
aren't immediately identifiable may get odd looks. I've just figured that as
a blind person, I'm being looked at most of the time, anyway, so I've never
let it bother me.
